Paint Protection Film (PPF)
What It Is
PPF is a thin layer of thermoplastic urethane or polymer that's applied to a car's exterior surfaces. It's also known as clear bra, clear film, or clear paint film.
How it's applied
Applying PPF is a time-consuming process that requires the car to be at a shop for a few days. The quality of the installation depends on the skill of the technician.
Benefits
PPF can help keep a car's finish looking new. It's also resistant to water spots, mineral marks, oxidation from UV rays, and chemical stains.
Limitations
PPF isn't a fix for already damaged paint.
What it does
PPF protects a car's paint from stone chips, bug splatters, bird droppings, leaves, dirt, and minor abrasions. It can also help hide light swirl marks.
How it works
PPF is virtually invisible when installed properly, and some varieties can self-heal when heat is applied.
